Church of Ost
The de-facto rulers of Renin. Now, the Ostian Prelate governs the city, at least in name, supported by the Ostian Guard. The laws of the Church are now the laws of the city, though some, like the requirement for all magical practitioners to be ordained members of the Church of Ost, are not entirely enforceable. Still, most of the citizenry (the middle class, anyway) are faithful adherents to the Church, and social pressure sometimes works where Ostian Guard and Church decrees don’t.
The ties between the Blinded Eye and the Church of Ost are tangled and subtle – the Church likes to maintain its purity, but the Church hierarchy really like the money (and other benefits) the Eye provides. This is not to say that there are no true, faithful members of Ost’s clergy; indeed, most of the parish priests and low-ranked clergy are good men and women who are totally dedicated to Ost’s teachings of compassion and truth.
